Everyone Likes Little Peter

A while back, the Hubs n I discovered we had a rabbit living under our deck.
Fine...
OH wait...
There are two of you...

Even though the veggie garden is gone this year...
I still don't want the bunnies around to munch on things
or poop in the yard
or torment our old blind dog with their scent.
So we tormented the bunnies.
Every time we saw them, we chased them with an air horn.
*smile*
No more bunnies.

So we thought.
THEN
I noticed the flowers in my flower bed were being ate up.
oh crap... they're back and they brought reinforcement.

That evening ....
this thing appeared on my back patio.
Isn't he just adorable?
So I left him be....
Sat down and with a drink and a smoke...
{yes I smoke... don't judge}
That was one stiff drink let me tell ya...
I started seeing double!
Ummmm Hello.... we have a problem here.
SO I did the most logical thing I knew...
I called my Momma.
Luckily, she was coming to the city the next day....
She brought me one of these....
Well something pretty close to it....
I stuffed what seems to be their favorite in the cage....
Lots of honeysuckle flowers...
A few baby carrots also.

My Momma also told me I could catch it by hand
AND
Don't be afraid to hold it...
{like I was?}
She asured me that it would not bite...
But also avised to keep my finger out of it's mouth?
Just in case....

The next morning we had a bunny.
WOOT WOOT
The Hubs went and took him about 6 blocks away...
To a nice creek and park area.

Now to get the trap back out for number two.
Number two now has a name....
 Peter
{or little $hit}
kind of depends on who ya ask...

He has also eaten a half package of baby carrots.
He loves him some carrots.
I had to go get more yesterday!

Peter is so tiny, he doesn't trip the trap.
So every morning and evening...
and when ever I see the cage is empty....
I add 5-6 baby carrots.
I figured....
If I keep feeding him, he will eventually weigh enough
to trip the trap.

ALSO, by feeding him, he has left my flowers alone.

Peter is so tiny.
And fluffy.
And cute.
He eats every morning...
He will sit about 2 feet from the cage
while I put in more carrots...
Then hop right in and eat them.

Then he sleeps in the morning sun with a full belly.

Hopefully we can catch the little $hit Peter soon.
There is a sweet family down the road that wants to take care of him.
I am all for that.
I actually felt guilty coming to work today....
He so expects me to keep that trap full of carrots for him.

uh oh!! I'm thinking I need to find one of those traps!!! My garden has been going GREAT for the most part this year. But noticed yesterday 2 of my tomato plants and one of my bell pepper plants...all the leaves are gone! UGH!!

I don't know how I feel about bunnies. They're cute and adorable, but they will terrorize anything you've got growing. So I guess I only like them if they're caged. :o) I think it's super sweet that you feed Peter. Those neighbors need to come get him ASAP though!

Hope you catch Peter! He is super cute though, my son wants a rabbit and I keep telling him nope!

We have a bigger problem with squirrels eating our garden plants.
The rabbit population took a hit when the foxes moved into the neighborhood.

Bunnies are so cute! I would have a hard time being mean to them, but I wouldn't want them eating up my veggie plants if I was trying to grow them. I'd be at a loss as to what to do. But ya know, once you name them, you've become attached :)

There are rabbits running around here everywhere! Funny story though, my hubby got one of those traps to try and catch a cat. I know but the cat was destroying our boat. Anyway, he set the trap and that morning we went outside and smelled a skunk. I had to laugh, how was he gonna get it out of the trap. Lucky for him the skunk didn't get in the trap but can you imagine if it had LOL!!!!

Our deck is a platform one, not every high off the ground. I do believe theree is a bunny love den underneath it. I wouldn't mind if they would show some respect for my lilies! They aren't even afraid of our sometimes sorry excuse for a dog!
